Crushes, already????

Okay so I know the Princess has had her buddy B for some time now, like since we got home from China and they set eyes on each other. But last night we were watching Narnia Prince Caspian and she says "Mama who is THAT?" so I answered her and said "Prince Caspian" she paused thoughtfully and says "hmmmm I LIKE him" WHAT?!?! Of course she also liked Susan and Lucy and wants her and the pixie to dress like them too. We were also flipping channels to the George Strait special that was on. She got to see Taylor Swift. She remembered watching her with Nai-Nai back in April and told me that she (Taylor) is so beautiful and sings so nice she wants to be like her and do that when she grows up. You go baby there are worse things to dream about.

I also had a friend comment on the most recent pictures of the princess. She said she didn't know if it was the whole nature vs nurture thing or what but that she felt like the princess was looking more like me all the time and she wanted to know if anyone had told me that. I told her not since China. I remember the nannies when I carried the princess back into visit them exclaiming excitedly "CHEEKS! so funny!" they thought that her cheeks looked like mine. I don't know about looks, but I know she has a lot of behaviors that remind me of myself as a child. A bit spooky really but in a good way. :)

Sporting a new cast

Well of course it's PINK, can you really tell me you didn't see that coming??!! We were a little nervous today when we went for more x-rays. She had kept her fingers curled for so long that her little finger and ring finger did not want to straighten out or I should SHE didn't want to straighten them out. But after more x-rays and consultation they feel she's doing good and it was just a case of her cast being a little tight and lack of movement. So now we have to make her straighten them out every hour and she how she does. The specialist will look at the x-rays again in the morning and decide if he wants to see her tomorrow or not. We are hoping not and she'll follow up with him next week. She has said she likes this cast much more and it is more comfortable than the last one. No surprise the last one was huge around her elbow.

No pics of the pixie tonight, though she was lookin' pretty cute today too. By this time she had made us all suffer enough with her lack of a nap this afternoon. So we caved and laid her down, whether she'll sleep through the night or not at this point, we will deal with later. She definitely does not do well when her routine is upset. She just can't make it without her nap yet. The princess has almost outgrown naps so she can kind of go either way, but the pixie needs hers in a bad way. LOL.

As you can see "Flavor Bunny" is never far from the Princess, he is her current favorite animal and at this point I'm almost surprised he doesn't have a cast too. Don't give her any ideas okay??

Things here

Things are looking okay this week. The Princess seems to be doing okay with her cast, actually the hardest part is keeping her from doing any more damage. We go back to Ortho tomorrow and hopefully things will look good and they can finish this cast. They didn't want to until they saw how she was beginning to heal. She rarely complains, except about wearing the sling, she's not crazy over that part at all, limits her movements too much. I have a feeling she's going to be tons of fun through school.

The pixie is settling in pretty good. Her vocabulary is beginning to expand, we finally get a "peeee" for Please, cup, sissy, yes sir and yes ma'am. NO of course has been in her vocabulary for awhile now. LOL. Basically she is starting to talk a bit more though not always clear, she's making the attempts. She has also been doing great with a sippy cup lately so she's been drinking a lot more and that is very good.

We really do have to measure them both too. I still swear I can sit and watch them both growing right before my eyes, especially the pixie. We are going to have to trim her hair in the back she has one lock of hair that is just so much longer than the rest, it just looks too funny. Time to trim it and even things up. Her hair is also growing very fast right now too.. it gets more poofy all the time. LOL Almost to the point where we will have to start pulling it up and styling it a bit more every day. She will love that as she still looks longingly at both mine and her sister's hair. She actually loves to have her hair combed or brushed. Anything girly this kid loves. Though shoes are by far her favorite.. almost to the point of driving Mama a little batty as she wants to change her shoes every 2 minutes. I have no doubt both girls will love getting their nails done.. so not my thing.. good thing my friend from TX is coming out this summer and will be looking to get her "GIRL" fix and a break from her all boy all the time house. I think I'll trade her for a few hours. Oh I miss those boys!

Things look to be starting out pretty good this week. Minor disagreements on toys and such but for the most part lots of playing "together", getting into trouble and in general having a pretty good time. As long as we can illustrate the difference to the Princess on Princess behavior as opposed to DIVA behavior, then we'll be all right. LOL

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend.

Just some pics we have taken over the last week or so that I am finally getting a moment to load. The video is to show you how little having a cast and broken arm is slowing down the princess. They were able to cast her arm this afternoon and we have to go back next week to have it checked again, if all looks good then they will add the fiberglass or something to the cast then. Let's hope it looks good. Like I said, she is not slowing down a bit.

Oh and the no shirt pics, well that happens when you live in FL without A/C, no, ours is not fixed yet. We are hoping for tomorrow or it is going to be a very LONG, long weekend.

Aunt Tiny thanks for the dress up things, as you can see they were a hit!

An update

So this is how yesterday afternoon was going BEFORE and after the Princess fell. See how her and our neighbor are on top of the tunnel.. they do this all the time, despite our warnings and I guess we figured they have done it so often they'll be fine. Well they were, here. Then they got down and traded places and it was as the Princess was climbing back up that she fell backward into the open part of the toy. Daddy has finally seen an x-ray and apparently her bone is broken vertically..a crack all along the bone. I am waiting on the call right now to find out how they are going to fix it. Whether it will be set and a molded cast or surgery. Pray with me will you?

She has been a real trooper, we are keeping on pain meds every 4 or 5 hours and it seems to be helping. She is not complaining except about having to keep it still. She would like nothing better than to just take the sling off and bounce around. I'm telling you I don't think anything slows this kid down. But she has insisted she is not climbing anymore, yeah we'll see.

I'll post again when we know more.

1st break

Broken bone that is. The princess fell while climbing on a little tikes slide set at the neighbor's house this afternoon and broke her right arm. Her forearm just before the elbow. I knew as soon as I got to her it was broken, came inside got Daddy, we called Peds and they took her right in for a quick look trying to get us in to x-ray right next door before they closed. Nope, no luck there. Had to come back and get me, her bunny "Flavor" and a juice cup and head to the ER the next town over. Got right into x-ray there and sure enough it's fractured. Pretty good one too according to the nurse practioner. So about 3 hours later, it is splinted for tonight, she has been given Tylenol 3. She should be passed out but here she sits next to me with a movie on, not the least bit tired. Honestly does the child have to be THAT much like me that even Codeine has no affect on her sleep??! Apparently so. Doesn't do anything for me either.. I hope she can relax enough for sleep soon, we are having an awful time convincing her that she just can't move it and can't put her weight on that arm. I don't expect to get much sleep tonight.

Through all of it, she cried when she first did it until I had her in the house and that was it. No more tears. She is one resilient kid. I know it is hurting her, because she does tell me that and she is annoyed by the splint... just wait til we see ortho and they talk about casting it.. but other than that she is very calm in her reactions. She is just not a big crier, never has been.

I have some pictures of before and after on my cell phone, I am going to try to figure out how to load those up. But it may not be until tomorrow. What a night. The neighbor kept the pixie for us through all of that and she was not thrilled about coming home to a dip and dunk (quick bath) and bed. But thankfully was tired enough that she did lay right down. Now if only the princess would or could get comfortable.

A praise

I can't even tell you how thankful we are that we have had cooler temps this week! Still no A/C we are waiting on a compressor and haven't heard yet when that will be in, we are hoping for this week and not next. I seriously doubt our cooler temps will hold out much longer. But right now there is a good breeze and the windows are open and we are all comfortable in here. So nice. We even managed to have our neighbor over for dinner last night:)

I do have a couple of pictures of the pixie opening a present from Aunt Tiny to put on here but I am afraid to wake the princess right now so I will have to add those later. Because the weather did turn on us, we didn't get out for the fun stuff on Sunday after all. We had showers all around us that day, so all of our outdoor plans went right out the window. Hopefully this weekend we will get a better chance.

The girls seem to be giving me a bit of break this week. If you can call it that. Last week I swear they took turns each day trying to drive me crazy and were into things every single day. This week it seems to be every other day. LOL. The princess had a rough day yesterday up until Daddy got home anyway, but after that it got better and having the neighbors over seemed to be a good thing for her. She is having lots of mood swings, mostly concerning the pixie, and can't quite seem to get a hold of her feelings in the matter of being a big sister. She is coming around though, like I said, every other day now. ;) She does want very much to be a big sister and play with the pixie, but she of course wants to stake her claim on us as well. Fine line to walk huh? Her balance is getting better. And the times they do play well together make it all worth it.

Please pray the weather continues to hold until our A/C is fixed and if you could, say a prayer for the princess that she can wrap her mind around this adoption thing and be the Angel girl I know she is all the time instead of just the brief glimpses I've been getting lately. I do try to make the most of those brief glimpses but I would love to see her around on more of a daily basis again. :)

It's getting HOT in here

Well that would be because our compressor went caput on our Central A/C, they'll be out Monday to fix it. In the mean time we'll be spending as much time out and about looking for cooler places tomorrow. Today we hit the mall and I found dresses on sale, I swore I wasn't going to go that part of the store, but they had all the fancy Easter Dresses marked down to 10 and 12 dollars...too good to pass up so I got dresses and put them away for next year, and a couple more summer ones for now, of course!

I'm not sure if tomorrow will find us at the beach or maybe the Aquarium and then the beach, or possibly a boat ride. Have to see how it goes, but we will figure something out. Fortunately we had just picked up a window unit for our room last week, since it just never seems to cool off enough in our room. And it is actually cooling down nicely this evening so with the fans going the girls should be comfortable for the night.

I'm going to charge the camera battery and get it ready for whatever we end up doing tomorrow! ;)

For Daddy

Since this is a fresh start, I'm going to do something I rarely do, I'm going to talk about the Daddy in this house. Something else I rarely do, I'm going to mention we are a military (gasp!) family because today was a very special day here for Daddy and it has everything to do with his job. He found out today that he was among those selected for promotion!!! We are all so very proud of him. You have to know a bit more about him to know why this is such a big deal. For one thing, he studies, he studies hard to make these promotions, but even when he is trying to study, he is trying to be the best possible Dad and husband and not give up time with his family. That is a pretty hard line to walk. But to reassure the Princess he will stay on the couch where she can see him while she falls asleep and he will study. To make things easier for me so that I can stretch out my back, he will stay out there long after she is asleep, getting his study time while so I can get some TV time and relax in the bedroom. He thinks of everyone else but himself first. Always.

For another thing, he works hard. He expects a lot from the people around him, but never more than he is putting in himself. He will stay late (whether I like it or not or whether he does or not) to get paperwork done or to finish a project. So for that alone I know he deserves this not only because he tests well but just because he has worked for it.

For the husband he is. The love of my life (corny I know but I could never ever put into words anything more true) my other half, my better half. He is not only breadwinner, he is provider, rock, stability, sanity when I need it most. Even when he is gone, he is there. Always with me, knowing me like no one else on earth could ever hope to.

For the Dad he is. Daddy's little princess and now his little pixie. There for the laughter, for the tears, for the inevitable arguments. Strict as he is, and he is, he can go so quickly to scooping them up for more kisses and giggles to defuse a situation. He is their protector (yes Mom I know sometimes too much so, but be fair he waited a long time to be a Daddy, he doesn't want anything to mess that up) their first love, yes, the Princess has already declared she is going to marry Daddy when she grows up that he is her Prince.

So for all of this and oh so much more. I love you honey. You deserve this promotion and we are so very proud of you. Even if the Princess did boil it all down to one sentence in her attempt to understand what this means for you. Yes, you can buy her more dresses now!

The video is of course for Daddy. The girls both acting out and the pixie doing her level best to dance to Daddy's favorite Ohio State music. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it. And the pictures are just some of my favorite pictures of Daddy over the last few years. I probably should have waited for this post, huh? But for us it came just a little early and it seemed like the right time to tell you about our good news and the Daddy we adore.
